The port of Rotterdam is one of the largest and most advanced seaports in the world. It is a major hub for transhipment, container shipping and connections with the hinterland. It therefore has world-class infrastructure: terminals, deep water, access to the sea and hinterland, and various modes of transport. But in this context, the port of Rotterdam is also an innovative driving force. There are plenty of reasons for Hyperfox to explore the possibilities.
From shipbuilding, maintenance, logistics, commercial services, trading, offshore, and energy infrastructure, the region covers almost all maritime value chains. Above all, however, there is a strong focus on the digitisation of logistics and supply chain networks: blockchain, track & trace, smart contracts, data sharing, network optimisation, and the application of AI.
There are already hundreds of tech start-ups in the region. The region is one of the top AI hotspots in the Netherlands. The South Holland region is consciously investing in AI and digitisation, also with a view to social and environmental impact. There is a policy aimed at supporting innovation, talent development and digitisation.
At the beginning of September, our CEO Tom Devos joined the Antwerp delegation of the innovative community The Beacon on its Rotterdam Port & Innovation Tour. It was a fascinating journey through many inspiring sessions organised by FIT - Flanders Investment & Trade, Rotterdam Partners, Rotterdam Makers District, Van Nelle Fabriek, Ampelmann Operations, PortXL & Impala Terminals. An inspiring journey in which Hyperfox sought opportunities for the use of AI in the digitisation of chains and business processes.
